FINAL DRAFT

As the little girl was walking out the door she touched the fragment of rock that hung from her neck in a heart shape. She looked in the mirror at her beautiful dress, her black wig with a big red bow, and her yellow cape. She gazed down to the floor at her black shining shoes. Her big shining blue eyes were filled with wonder and excitement. She wondered if anyone else would be dressed just like her. Her heart fluttered with a nervous excitement. She hugged her mom and was out the door faster than mom wanted. “I love you!” she heard her mom shout. As she was walking she could still hear the echo of her mom’s words all the way down the sidewalk. The words filled her heart with a joy she wished everyone could experience. She was on her way. Her mom’s words were merely a whisper now. She traveled down the sidewalk she looked at all the other kids walking around... She didn’t see anyone wearing what she was Yet And she saw that most of the lights on the houses were on, which was a really good thing. She could feel the gravel underneath her feet as she skipped along the path. The weather was slightly cooled the sun was still up but almost going down. And beautifully painted leaves were falling slowly from the sky. She tried to catch them as they fell. The breeze rustled her short black wig and she felt her bow Starting to slip. Her little hands gripped her basket tightly and eagerly. She smiled so beautifully her little pearls shining, “Oh yay the first house woohoo!” she exclaimed. She ran excitedly. It looked as if her little feet didn’t even touch the ground She approached the coal colored door and knocked on it. objects different sizes and colors were dropped into her basket. In all sorts of different shapes. Then she eagerly moved on. She stopped on the way to sit on a bench and glance at the sky. “Wow” she exclaimed. “This reminds me of Starry Night by Vincent Van-Goh. I learned about him in school. He was an artist “she exclaimed. Then she moved on and continued on her fun filled journey until the breathtaking. But mysterious full moon was about. Sadness weighted her heart as she approached the last of the houses. But her basket weighed her arm down. Almost to the ground. So she was very pleased about that. She went up to the last house she checked to make sure the lights were on. Then she pushed her finger to the doorbell, she waited nervously until she heard the pitter of footsteps and anxiety overcame her. She started jumping up and down with excitement. Finally the door opened and she uttered the words she has been longing to say, the unexplained words that filled her basket so heavily. “Trick or Treat?”
